Jazmine Sullivan
Jazmine Sullivan was born and was raised at home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam is a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. At the age of five, older, her father was offered job as curator of The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family was able to move into the landmark historical building. In 2005, she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with a major in vocal music. Sullivan performed as a contralto singer for the choir for children and several years later was a part of the adult choir. Sullivan wasn't exposed to secular music at first. "When I reached 11 and a half, someone asked to enroll me on a gospel record. I refused to take that step," she says. After that, McDonald's held a contest with children from large cities. I was selected to sing "Accept What God Allows" in the show Showtime at the Apollo. And the crowd responded very well. She sang with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year 13. Sullivan aged 15, was first signed to Jive Records. Sullivan was initially signed by Jive Records when she was 15. She recorded an entire album, but the album did not see release. Sullivan was eventually dismissed on the labels. The singer had a great working relationship with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced many of her tracks and tracks, such as "Backstabbers" that was produced by Timbaland.
